Highlighting materiality

The Work Around

Most projects start with determining the design constraints or must-haves. Once we establish the must-haves, we create a mood inspiration board that captures the feelings and emotions we are trying to evoke with the design strategy. This project was unique because our must-haves were all about the existing materials. This was our starting point.

1. Mint wall finish to remain

2. Reuse existing pine furniture

Material Inspiration

Pastel Mint Paint, Natural Pine Wood, White Powder Coat, Eggshell Ceramic, Natural Terracotta

Our focus was to introduce new complementary colors and rich textures to add some personality. Once we had the materials figured out, we need to determine a design aesthetic for the entire space.

Since the existing furniture spoke to Scandanavian influences, we tried to highlight some of these same classic design elements. We selected new items that followed the design style and worked with the same traditional neutral color palette.

Modern Furniture, Accent Artwork, Wall Mounted Sconces, Neutral Textiles

This design refresh was all about adding a few new furniture items & accenting accessories.

See how these inspiration boards influenced the final design strategy for this project

I really feel we were able to better utilize all the space through purposeful planning and new interior design accents.
